Summary: The Board of Education is asked to substantially approve the new SAFER (Schools Access for Emergency Response) Grant Award Agreement in the amount of $1,137,610.00 from Colorado Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Management Grant, subject to changes. The SAFER Program by SB18-158 provides funding for the inter-operable communication hardware, software, equipment maintenance, and training to allow for seamless communication between school systems and first responder communications systems. The Board initially approved the SAFER Funding Grant Award Agreement at its January 17, 2019 meeting, but the State of Colorado has issued a new agreement.
